According to, my Inateck enclosure's controller is the ASMedia ASM1153E, which, based on what I can find on Google, is apparently a fairly high quality controller. I then copied the image file to an internal hard drive in my computer, and the copying process likewise completed without incident. Surprisingly, it only took marginally longer than with a USB 3.0 port (about 9 minutes longer), and I got faster speeds than I had ever gotten with my old USB 2.0 enclosure (about 20 MBps faster).

I decided to perform a full system image backup to the Inateck enclosure through a USB 2.0 port, in order to make the test sufficiently rigorous. Is it possible to force Windows 10 to run these enclosures in USB 3.0 BOT mode?
